Season of Preparation

Sometimes, the best way to move forward is to slow down. To pull back, reset, and prepare for what’s ahead.

Think of an arrow—it has to be drawn back before it can be launched forward with power. The same is true for us. Before stepping into something great, God often leads us into a season of preparation. A season where things may seem slow, quiet, or even confusing. But in this season, something powerful is happening.

Preparation Reveals Three Things:

1. You Discover God

Before Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, he first had to meet God at the burning bush (Exodus 3:1-12). In the wilderness, away from the noise, he encountered God in a way that changed his entire life.

Seasons of preparation strip away distractions and help us draw closer to God. You begin to trust Him in a deeper way because, sometimes, He is the only constant in this season.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

— Psalm 46:10

2. You Discover Yourself

This season forces you to look inward. To confront your fears, weaknesses, and untapped potential.

David spent years tending sheep before he ever became king. That time in solitude wasn’t wasted—it was shaping him into the leader he was meant to be. Your season of preparation does the same. You start to understand your purpose, strengths, and what truly matters to you.

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart.”

— Jeremiah 1:5

3. You Discover Your Rod

When Moses doubted his ability to lead, God asked him, “What is that in your hand?” (Exodus 4:2). It was just a shepherd’s staff, but with God, it became a tool for miracles.

Your “rod” could be a skill, a business idea, your voice, or a talent you’ve overlooked. In this season, God reveals the tool you’ll use to do great things. You may not see its full potential yet, but trust that it’s there.

“A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.”

— Proverbs 18:16

The Challenges of Preparation

Let’s be real—this season isn’t always easy.

  • You may not see immediate growth. Some days will feel stagnant, like nothing is happening. But just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean God isn’t working.
  • You may lose motivation. It’s normal to question the process, to feel tired or discouraged. Even Jesus had His moment in the wilderness before His ministry began.
  • People might not understand you. Friends and family may question why you’re not moving faster. They may not see the vision God has placed in you, but that’s okay—it wasn’t given to them, it was given to you.

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”

— Zechariah 4:10

What to Do in This Season

1️⃣ Stay patient—Preparation is not punishment; it’s positioning.
2️⃣ Keep learning—This is the time to sharpen your skills, grow in wisdom, and seek God’s direction.
3️⃣ Embrace the process—Don’t rush it. The lessons you learn now will equip you for the future.

A Short Prayer

“Lord, help me to trust this season of preparation. When I feel stuck, remind me that You are working behind the scenes. Reveal Yourself to me, show me who I am, and help me discover the gifts You’ve placed in my hands. I choose patience over frustration, faith over fear, and obedience over doubt. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Final Thought

If you’re in a season of waiting, don’t mistake it for wasted time. This is your training ground. When the moment comes for you to step into your calling, you’ll be ready.

Your preparation today is making room for your elevation tomorrow.
