A short reflection on becoming
There is a version of you waiting on the other side of courage. A version you haven’t met yet. A version wiser than your fears, stronger than your doubts, and more capable than your current level of experience. But most people never meet that future self because they cling too tightly to who they are today.
We get comfortable with our habits. Our routines. Our titles. Our limitations. Comfort becomes identity, and identity becomes a cage.
But becoming requires movement. It asks you to loosen your grip on the familiar and step—sometimes trembling—toward the unknown. Growth never happens inside the boundaries of who you already are. It happens when you stretch into who you could be.
The truth is simple:
You cannot evolve if you’re overly committed to the current version of yourself.
Your future is not built by holding on. It is built by letting go.
Letting go of the fear that you might fail.
Letting go of the story that says you’re not ready.
Letting go of the identity that was shaped by survival, not vision.
Becoming is a process of release and renewal. You release who no longer serves you, and you make room for who you are destined to become.
Every new version of you demands a small death of the old self. Not in a painful way, but in a freeing way—like shedding a layer that has grown too tight. When you let go, you create space for possibility. You give the future you a chance to breathe.
So this week, ask yourself:
What am I holding on to that no longer reflects who I’m becoming?
What belief, fear, or story has expired but I still carry?
What small step can I take today that moves me closer to the version of me I want to meet?
You don’t owe loyalty to your past self.
You owe opportunity to your future one.
Becoming is not a destination. It is a commitment—to growth, to clarity, to courage, and to becoming the kind of person you will one day be proud to meet.
Give that future version of you a chance. They are waiting.
